WAEC speaks on ‘payment’ for upgrade of result

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reacted to a report urging 2018 WASSCE candidates to call some numbers and “upgrade” their results.

Reports had on Wednesday emerged that candidates are to call a telephone number – 09075274532, for payment instructions for an “upgrade” on their results.

But, a statement on the board’s official Twitter handle, advised candidates to disregard such information as it was ‘false.

It also warned that candidates who fall victims will have a different result on its database.

The Statement added that, ”That’s a scam. There’s no such thing as ‘upgrade’ of result. They can concoct a result & give to you but it’ll be different from what we have on our database.

”A lot of their victims have lost their jobs & turned back at Embassies during verification. Be wise.”
